I don't use the colour red in my art as often as I use other colours. Honestly, it's not one of my favourites. There is, however, something about deep rich reds, velvety dark burgundy and crimson that I am very drawn to.
This painting was all about using colour palette of deep crimson, white and black, and building up the layers of texture, strokes and marks.
Looking at the finished painting made me think of those lovely days when you get an early start under a lush red sunrise.
